Easy Beaded Pumpkin Tutorial
This cute beaded pumpkin charm takes less than an hour to make. The technique is very simple and can easily be adapted to make different objects. If you don't have 3 mm fire polished crystals, you can try using size 8 or 12 seed beads and just tweaking the design a bit. You can use these charms for cell phone straps, earrings, and tons of jewelry-making projects.
Materials:
Tools:
Materials:
- 3 mm Czech fire polished crystals, Light Orange/Amber 63 beads
- Size 11 Japanese seed beads, Matte Brown, 3 beads
- 26 Gauge Green Wire, 1 1/2 inches
- 28 Gauge Wire, 1 ft
- 8 mm Acrylic round bead, clear, 1 bead
Tools:
- Wire Cutters
- Round Nose Pliers
- Bent Nose Pliers
Step 1: Pass the 28 gauge wire through the acrylic bead, leaving a tail of about 1/2 inch. Bring the longer piece of wire around the bead and twist it with the 1/2 inch tail 4-5 times. Trim whatever is left of the 1/2 piece.
Step 2: Pass the wire through the bead so that the twisted part is hidden inside.
Step 3: Add 6 of the orange beads to the wire and wrap them around the large acrylic bead. Pass through the top of the bead and come back out through the bottom. Repeat this step 6 more times.
Step 4: You will have gaps between the beads. To cover them, add 3 orange beads to the wire and continue passing through the bead as you did in step 3. Stop when all of the gaps are filled (there should be 7 total).
Step 5: Make the pumpkin "vine". Take the piece of green wire and make a small coil on one end by wrapping it around round nose pliers 2 times. Starting at the other end, coil it around the pliers 3 to 4 times.
Step 6: String the vine onto the remaining wire on the pumpkin. Use the small coil to string it. Add the brown beads to the wire and make a wrapped loop. Trim excess wire and tuck in ends with bent nose pliers.
